Below are the steps to make tethering work on windows xp with a nexus s phone:
- download the following file (tetherxp.inf) which is the usb driver windows xp will ask for
- connect the nexus s to your computer using the usb cable
- ensure debugging mode is turned off on the phone or turn it off (Settings > Developer options > USB debugging)
- activate tethering on the phone (Settings > Wireless & Networks > Tethering and portable hotspot > USB tethering)
- at this stage, windows should ask for a driver, do the following:
- choose “do not connect to the internet”
- select “I have a file”
- click on browse and select the file downloaded at step1
- click on next and perform install
That’s it.
You should be able to tether by now.
